Who can come
The law issues a residence permit for family reunification to family members of a foreigner who holds a residence permit (art. 15(c)). It is first issued for 6 months to 1 year (art. 16(1)(a)) and can be extended on the same conditions, up to a limit of 12 years (art. 16(3)).
Some permits cover family members themselves. The investment residence permit is issued to the investor and family members (spouse, minor child, fully dependent persons), and the short-term residence permit for property owners also goes to the spouse and children (arts. 15(h), 15(j)).
Documents the agency asks for
- A copy of the travel document and proof of lawful stay in Georgia.
- A document proving kinship.
- Proof of legal income earned in Georgia by the applicant and/or by a Georgian citizen or relative with the right of residence in Georgia. Money in the applicant’s personal bank account counts if, over the permit’s term, the monthly amount is at least twice the subsistence minimum for an average consumer in Georgia.
