What is the corporate income tax (IRES) rate for an Italian SRL?
Checked on
Italian resident companies, including SRLs and SpAs, pay corporate income tax (IRES) at 24% of their total net income. The rate is in art. 77 of the income tax code in force for 2026, and the new Testo unico, which applies from 1 January 2027, keeps it at 24% in art. 86.

The rate
Article 77 of the income tax code (TUIR, DPR 917/1986), in the text in force in 2026, says corporate income tax (imposta sul reddito delle società, IRES) is charged on total net income at 24%. A 2026 consolidation, the Testo unico delle imposte sui redditi (D.Lgs. 117/2026), replaces the TUIR from 1 January 2027 (art. 377); its art. 86(1) sets the same 24% rate.
Who pays IRES
The new code lists the taxpayers in art. 82(1): resident companies limited by shares (SpA and SAPA), limited liability companies (SRL), cooperatives and mutual insurance companies, European companies and cooperatives; resident public and private bodies whose main object is commercial; and non-resident companies and entities of every kind.
Banks and financial firms
For financial intermediaries and the Bank of Italy, the 24% rate carries a surcharge of 3.5 percentage points. Fund management companies and SIMs (investment firms) are excluded from the surcharge (art. 86(2)).
