Who has to pay Serbia's annual income tax, and by when?

Checked on

You pay Serbia's annual income tax if your yearly income is above three average annual salaries: RSD 5,439,096 for 2025, says the Ministry of Finance. How the return works

The law says the Tax Administration fills in the return from official records and posts it on its portal by 1 April. You must correct or complete anything that is wrong or missing and file it electronically. If you don’t file by the deadline, the Tax Administration files the return for you (art. 92(2)–(4)).

The Ministry’s explanation adds that the return is form PP GPDG, filed only electronically through the Tax Administration portal. Where the Tax Administration has not prepared a pre-filled return (it gives the example of income reported under a passport number), you must fill it in and file it yourself by 15 May. A non-resident files through a tax proxy. If your income for this tax works out at RSD 0, you don’t have to file.

Paying

Annual income tax is self-assessed (art. 5), and self-assessed taxes are paid no later than the deadline for filing the return (art. 114).
