What are the personal income tax rates in Serbia?

Checked on

Serbia taxes each kind of income at its own rate under the Personal Income Tax Law: salaries and self-employment income at 10%, interest, dividends and capital gains at 15%, and rental, copyright and other income at 20%. People with high yearly income also pay an annual income tax of 10% or 15% on top.

How the system works

Serbia does not add all your income together and apply one scale. The law lists seven kinds of income (salary, self-employment, copyright, capital, real estate, capital gains, other income) and each has its own base and rate (art. 3). Most of this tax is withheld by the payer; some you calculate yourself.

On top of that, people whose yearly income is above three times the average annual salary in Serbia pay an annual income tax (art. 87). It is charged at 10% on the taxable base up to six average annual salaries, and 15% on the part above (art. 89).
