How long is Spain's entrepreneur residence permit valid, and how do you renew it?
Checked on
The entrepreneur residence permit is valid across Spain for three years. You can then renew it for two years at a time, online, as long as you still meet the conditions that gave you the permit. The law says you can obtain permanent residence after five years. A renewal application keeps the permit valid until the decision.

Three years, then two
Ley 14/2013 gives the entrepreneur residence permit a validity of three years. When they end, you can ask to renew it for two years (art. 69.1). Renewals are always for two-year periods, are processed electronically, and depend on keeping the conditions that gave you the right to the permit; the Directorate-General for Migration may ask for reports to check this (art. 76.3).
Keeping the conditions
The law requires you to keep meeting the conditions of the permit while it lasts (additional provision 7.1). Any change that affects them must be reported to the UGE-CE within 30 days (7.2). If the authorities find the conditions are no longer met, they can end the permit, giving reasons and after hearing you (7.4).
Late renewal
Filing the renewal keeps your permit valid until the decision. The law extends this to applications filed within 90 days after the permit expired, but a sanction procedure may still be opened (art. 76.3).
